2025 Red Sox Bold Predictions!

The Red Sox have acquired both Garret Crochet and Walker Buehler, but they’ve yet to address a major hole in their lineup: the lack of a right-handed bat. That being said, let’s predict a few things that could still happen during the offseason and the regular season. The Red Sox sign Alex Bregman to a 3-year deal with opt-outs after each year. The Red Sox have been heavily linked to Bregman throughout the offseason for several reasons, and I believe they will reach an agreement with him to fill the much-needed right-handed bat in their lineup. Garret Crochet wins the AL Cy Young Award. We saw what Crochet was capable of last year in Chicago, even with limited innings. I...

Bregman, Grissom, Campbell Who Will Be The Opening Day Second Baseman?

Image
Photo Credit:  Getty Images Rodger Wood/Diamond Images      As of today, the Red Sox still have a massive hole in their lineup due to a lack of right-handed bats. One position that could accommodate one of these bats is second base. Based on multiple reports from around the league, Alex Bregman appears to be the most logical fit for Boston. However, the big question remains: Are ownership and Craig Breslow willing to commit to a significant contract for a player entering his age-31 season, especially one whom many believe may be heading into a decline?      If the team signs Bregman, I would personally prefer to see him utilize his Gold Glove-caliber defense at third base. However, with Rafael Devers firm on playing the position and Masataka Yoshida still on the roster, it seems unlikely that Devers will be moved. While Bregman’s defensive prowess at third would be ideal, leaving second base open for the team’s No. 2 prospect, Kristian Campbell,...

Repping some new Sox! Red Sox land Crochet from White Sox. How could this affect 2025 and beyond?

Image
Photo Credit :(USATSI) As you likely know, the Red Sox recently acquired left-handed ace Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for four prospects. The players sent to Chicago were catcher Kyle Teel, outfielder Braden Montgomery, utility infielder Chase Meidroth, and pitcher Wikelman Gonzalez—all of whom rank among the top 25 prospects in the Red Sox minor league system. Giving up four prospects is a hefty price, but trading for a lefty ace from the White Sox has worked before, as seen in the Chris Sale trade. Considering the current market for starting pitchers, where Blake Snell and Max Fried secured massive contracts from the Yankees and Dodgers, it's clear that ownership is hesitant to commit to another large deal. Ken Rosenthal reported that owner John Henry feels burned by the contracts given to David Price and Chris Sale. This reluctance to spend big on aging starters makes the Croche...

Red Sox 2024 Off-Season. Who could they land and how do they fit?

Image
Photo Credit:  Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images        The Red Sox were right in the thick of the race for superstar outfielder Juan Soto, but with Soto inking a 15-year, 765 million-dollar deal with the New York Mets, where could they pivot now? There are plenty of big-name free agents left on the board, so let's look ahead and see how they fit.  1. Alex Bregman     Last year, with the Houston Astros, Bregman posted a .260 batting average with 26 home runs and 75 runs batted in. This was good for 4.1 WAR. As a right-handed hitter, along with his ties to Alex Cora from Cora's days in Houston, he is an obvious fit for the Red Sox, but with reports that Rafael Devers will be remaining at the hot corner, where does Bregman play? Bregman has said he would be open to playing second base, which would be a clear upgrade over what the Red Sox have ...
